Try this..
Go here

https://www.totalsims.com/index.php?page=downloads

and download the game from 'site 1'
When prompted, select 'save file' and select the Desktop as the save file location 'desktop'

Proceed with download and when finished, do not unstuff using stuffit expander.

Instead, highlight the zip file and go to >File> Get Info

Here you will see about halfway down the column, a place where it says 'open with'. It probably says 'Stuffit Expander" We dont want that anymore. OSX comes with something called 'Archive Utility' which does the job better.. Click on whatever is selected in the Get Info pane that says 'open with' and select 'other' from the pull down menu..
So, now go to 'Hard Disk>System> Library> CoreServices and look for Archive Utility.
Select this and hit 'Add"
Now in the Get Info window, you should see Archive Installer selected as the default app and then select 'Change All" so this now becomes the default app to unzip all downloads. It work better than stuffit.
Try unzipping the WB download again.
Hope this helps..

I have the same problem as well. I can run the installer 100 times and there is no application to be found anywhere on my system (but the installer does report that the installation completed). Like Mayhem and Dittoo I get an installer, not the actual application folder.

As far as I can tell I have Archive Utility set as the default. I'll redownload once more just to try. I foresee one problem though (apart from the 4hr download), the file is going to get unzipped automatically as soon as it is downloaded and I wont have any chance of going through the manual steps proposed. I seem to recall that there is some setting in some preference file somewhere to regulate this and if anyone has any suggestions, please let me know.

Safari->Preferences->General
Uncheck "Open Safe Files After Downloading"

Other than a few keyboard commands that dont work anymore (like command>f12 for the AI popup menu), Snow Leopard runs just fine on my rig.

The installer is what you want. Double click on that to install files onto your hard drive. Be sure to make Warbirds folder before you install the files or they will scatter all over your hard drive. PITA to find and put them into a folder later

I am having a problem with the mac installer. It downloaded and unpacked fine, but when I run the installer I tell it to install to destination - HD/applications/warbirds (i made the warbirds folder). It acts like it's installing and then says it was successful, but nothing shows up in the folder. Nothing warbirds related shows up except the installer when I search my system for files modified/created today. It didn't install anything.

What is the solution to this? I gave my credit card number to play this game and the thing won't even install! Evil or Very Mad

I finally got Warbirds 2009 (2007?) to install.

The installer package does not work at all on Snow Leopard, which is pretty unprofessional. I'm not sure how the company can think this is acceptable in any way or that they'd let this issue sit here unresolved for this long. I wonder how many people have canceled their subscription because they couldn't get it working?

Anyway, this particular installer package file is just another container like a ZIP or DMG file. I was able to copy the files out of the package file and into a new folder in my Applications folder and it runs for me now.

I HAVE NOT TESTED THIS FULLY, so I can make no guarantees that it does everything that needs to be done. But at least I was able to get Warbirds up-and-running this way on my MacBook Pro.

Here's what you need to do to get it installed:

1. Download a fresh copy of the Mac zip install package from the site.

2. Double-click on the zip file to extract the Installer package (which will appear in the same folder as the original).

3. Right-click on the Installer package and select "Show Package Contents"

A new Finder window will open showing all of the files that need to be installed.

4. Create a new empty folder in your Applications folder called "Warbirds" (or name it something different if you already have a "Warbirds" folder you want to keep.)

5. Select all of the files in the "Package Contents" finder window that you opened in step 3.

6. Drag all of the files selected in Step 5 to the new empty folder you created in Step 4.

It should be installed now. If you double-click on the "Warbirds" application in the new folder, Warbirds will launch.

Good luck!

I noticed that too. I think that iEN will resolve this issue when the new update, that is currently in closed beta, has all of the kinks worked out and released publicly. Snow Leopard is still fairly new and a lot of programmers are still getting hang of it. So be patient, because I am sure things will be fixed in the near future

Hey Guys-

I'm getting a new iMac 27" 2.66 GHz i5

Does anyone know if I need to do a complete fresh download from iEN and start from scratch, or can I just copy the files from my old G5?
Any special tricks running on the Intel processors?

Any input would be appreciated.

Thx

I'm no expert, but I'd bet that just copying all the files (or Warbirds folder) from the G5 will work fine.

Let us know.

PS: JBH2k10, what ever happened with your install?

Got the i5 27" with quad core.
Copied files over, and relatively no issues.

Had to trouble shoot a small problem with game quitting to DT after hitting fly button, and found that the new computer didn't like a certain custom sound file I had for WB. Haven't figured out which one it is. Running base sounds for now.

GAME RUNS AWESOME NOW!

Have all settings in the game maxed to highest res, etc., and am getting consistent 200+ FPS. Clouds wisp by effortlessly.
(45 y/o eyes now have to adjust to small buffer text though)

Can hardly wait for new graphics package Wild Bill says is coming out soon.
